The songs were recorded for the concert film Shadow Kingdom: The Early Songs of Bob Dylan. Uncredited session musicians include T Bone Burnett and Don Was. Interestingly, this is the first album in which Dylan performs with a band with no drums or percussion. The album consists of new and reimagined recordings of 13 songs from the first half of Dylan’s career and a new instrumental, Sierra’s Theme.
