  Despite the title track, this is not really a soundtrack to the BBC TV series of the same name. It’s more of an album inspired by the themes of the book - sex, religion, queer identity and growing up feeling like an outsider in south London. It didn’t make much impact at the time but Bowie said it was one of his favourite albums and who am I to argue with him. I love the jazzy bits, the ambient soundscapes and especially the track Strangers When We Meet.
