Rotate!
I took me a while to find Electr-o-pura on Amazon, due to the unnecessary hyphens. While I may have my issues with Amazon, it was worth the search to play a cool 12 bones for the disc. This is an album that dropped when I was perhaps most into indie rock. I borrowed the CD from a friend who lived in the same dorm. Songs "Decora" and "Tom Courtenay" immediately worked their magic on me.
Of the subsequent album, I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One, Steven Arroyo writes for Pitchfork, "While the New Jersey indie trio had by this point perfected the connection between close-mic intimacy and freakout solos..." When he refers to that perfection, he's looking back at Electr-o-pura. The album blends the two extremes with a delicate precision that makes it sound easy.
