Bradford Cox writes about cultural decay, memory, and exhaustion with unusual tenderness rather than cynicism. Harpsichords, pianos, and shimmering guitars give the album a faded, almost historical atmosphere. It feels like pop music slowly dissolving while still trying to remain graceful.
