  Walg is a two-man outfit from the Netherlands and this is--unsurprisingly--their sixth album.

  It is melodic black metal, with some touches of death metal and a few more pastoral interludes sprinkled here and there. They sing in their native language so I have no idea what the songs are about, but I am guessing it’s all rather bleak.

  For the first few tracks, I had this album provisionally filed in the “Good but not all that memorable” category, but I found it growing on me as I kept listening. I think they change it up enough to keep things interesting, while not fully diverging from the overall theme and mood.
