My 2023 Notables

Some of the stuff I bought in 2023 that I arbitrarily think is worth listing

  1. Femtanyl

Goes extremely hard. Bonkers energy. Breakcore? Digicore? Hyperpop? Whatever. Goes extremely hard.

    Highlight: GIRL HELL 1999

  2. lianhua

(single) Cute, catchy, and came out of nowhere to show up on YouTube for me.

  3. When people who know they're really good at music make music…

    Highlight: I'm The President

  4. Charming gaming-themed indie rock with a message. Uplifting, bright feel.

    Highlight: CTRL

  5. QUEENJAZZ

Fun mix of electronic styles. Bangers is correct. I found Queenjazz through the Hypnospace Outlaw OST!

    Highlight: qwerty

  6. queenjazz

Very comfy, funky, and fresh nod to the soundtrack of Jet Set Radio. I discovered this game through BANGERS by the same artist!

    Highlight: Skeleton Funk

  7. Great emotional range from determined to heartfelt to longing. The style of rock here fits the game's 80s cassette theme. The vocals seal the deal.

    Highlight: Shot in the Dark

  8. LukHash

Great homage to the music of retro PCs. This is what chiptunes sound like when they break out of their little soundchip.

    Highlight: 8-Bit Warrior

  9. MASTER BOOT RECORD

    DOS metal!

    Highlight: IRQ 0 SYSTEM CLOCK

My 2023 Notables is an album list curated by Arpfiend:

Rotting my brain with aggressively computery music. I pay artists, not streaming services.
