albums I’ve listened to
keeping track of what I’ve all listened to cuz I can’t remember jack, not at all a critic just my opinions on stuff I’ve heard to help me remember better
-
Crowbar
love their sound I’d love to find more bands like them, I like how gravely the vocals are especially, not a whole lot to say other than it was a good album and I’ll be listening to more of their stuff
-
Parkway Drive
I definitely prefered this album over ‘Killing With A Smile’ the instrumentation was better especially on ‘Carrion’ and ‘Five Months’ which were two back to back good songs, positive I prefered ‘Five Months’ it has to be my favorite off the album, big fan of the lyrics in most if not all of the songs in this I think they might be better than ‘Killing With A Smile’ was. the guitar was honestly magical I loveeee their guitarist they sound extremely good, the drummer was awesome aswell I feel like I don’t give enough love to the drummers usually since one of my main focus points is always on the guitarist but you can tell they love what they do just by how they play holy
-
Parkway Drive
this was a bit heavier than the other albums I’ve listened to but it was still pretty good, I didn’t like it at the start but it started growing on me as I listened more. they had some nice lyrics I liked a whole lot but I wasn’t a huge fan of how spread apart they sang their lyrics if that makes any sense, there were barely any clean vocals which I specifically look for in these types of songs, I still enjoyed the album though. my favorite is between ‘Smoke Em’ If You Got Em″ and ‘Romance Is Dead’
-
All That Remains
this was less heavy than the other albums by them I’ve listened to but I enjoyed it a whole lot, I like their clean vocals quite a bit and their instrumentation was great, real hard to pick a favorite from this album but ‘Stand Up’ was pretty good. I loved the acoustic on ’Calculating Loneliness’ I didn’t expect to hear something like that here but I think it worked well, again there wasn’t one song I didn’t like
-
All That Remains
I’m pretty sure I liked this album more than ‘Overcome’ I feel like the songs are catchier, I’ve got ‘Whispers (I Hear You)’ stuck in my head. I’m a big fan of their guitarist they’ve got some really good solos I’ve enjoyed and their vocalist does some awesome extreme vocals too. I think I mess with the band as a whole, there hasn’t been a single song I didn’t like which is rare for me, I’d listen to the whole thing over again
-
All That Remains
holy the guitar in this album is beautiful, honestly loved this album a lot more than I thought I would, I don’t think I’ve got a single complaint. I loved the solos in ′A Song For The Hopeless’ and ‘Forever In Your Hands’ I don’t know if I could pick a favorite but I’m leaning more towards ‘A Song For The Hopeless’ I love the way it starts out but they were both extremely good in my opinion
-
Adestria
I think I liked this album better than their ‘Chapters’ album, the lyrics were a lot better on this one and I especially liked them in ‘Dangerous Waters’ I think that song had a nice theme and painted a pretty good picture, most of their songs had pretty good themes actually I enjoyed them a lot but their not something I’d specifically come back to. I’m pretty sure ‘Shared Scars’ was my favorite but still like the other album and ep none of the songs really stuck with me. they have had some pretty good guitar I’ve liked while listening to their discography
-
Adestria
not the best ep out there, none of the songs really stuck with me personally except maybe ‘Dreamer’ thats the only one I thoroughly liked vocals, instrumentals. and all. the instrumentals are kinda the only thing I stuck around for I enjoyed them a lot in most of the songs, probally wouldn’t listen to the whole thing again though
-
Adestria
pretty okay album, I like how they changed the pace so much in some of the songs I think ‘Outsider’ might be my favorite from the whole album but I liked a good chunk of the songs, ‘This Ship, A Coffin’ was pretty good and I feel like ‘Scarlet Letter’ was a really good song to end it off on, I also kinda liked ’1984’ I loved the lyrics though I wasn’t too big a fan of the vocals which it was like that for a few of the songs, not saying I don’t like their voice but the pacing of the lyrics specifically didn’t fit at times.
-
Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows
good but nothing too special, I really liked the instrumentals on all the songs, solid 41 minutes took outta my life I would listen again. I did like their song ‘My Swagger Had a First Name’ but I really don’t like when artists put over a whole minute of silence in their song just to have meat canyon speak into my ear about some fuck shit, it was funny but dude I thought I was tweaking lmao, I loved the stuff like that at the end of their songs though, I’m also a big fan of their song names I love bands with a tiny bit of personality like this. It’s hard to pick a favorite from this album, I did like ‘Graveyard Dancing’ but I think I enjoyed ‘I’m Here to Take the Sky’ more?
-
The Word Alive
this is an ep but holy it was good, definitely an artist I’m gonna be looking more into, I honestly liked every song I would listen to them all again. big big fan of the guys voice, I felt like I enjoyed his clean vocals more than his extreme ones but there was more of a switch inbetween than I usually hear which I absolutely love. my favorite was either ’Casanova Rodeo’ or ‘Battle Royal’ I think I liked the lyrics and instrumentation on ‘Casanova Rodeo’ more but ‘Battle Royal’ was just a great start to the ep, loved the vocals on it
-
Hollow Front
pretty okay album, I liked the vocals well enough but the lyrics on most of the songs kinda cringed me out part the time, I love their sound and I feel like they put their songs together well but my only complaint is the lyrics, there were only a few songs I could get behind, those being ‘Lose Threads’ and ′Left Behind’ those were pretty good back to back. It started off strong then lost me a bit towards the end, though I did kinda enjoy ’The Itch’ going based off everything besides lyrics
-
Currents
I enjoyed most of the songs, this album had some good guitar solos I really liked and their extreme vocals are real nice too, I like how they pace their vocals aswell it goes good with all the instrumentation on basically all of the songs, the lyrics were alright, I think my favorite had to be ‘Monsters’ I liked the guitar solo of that one best
-
I might’ve actually liked this album more than ‘Disclaimer’ more of the songs really stuck with me especially ‘Fake It’ which I’d have to say is my favorite from the album, I liked ’FMLYHM’ aswell but really all of the songs were good in my opinion
-
Seether
bias because I love seether to death but this was a reallyyyyy good album, I adore this guys voice so much he could sing anything and I’d enjoy it, ‘Gasoline’ was my favorite I loved the lyrics for the whole album but I especially liked them on this specific song, its gotta be my favorite out of his whole discography. ‘Pig’ was also a song I thoroughly enjoyed, I’d 100% listen to the whole album again
-
Periphery
pretty good album, I have almost all of the songs saved which I think says something, I love how their extreme vocals sound plus I feel like they’re really good with switching between extreme and clean vocals which I like a lot. ‘Talk’ is my favorite by far, I really like the instrumentation for it, same with ‘Heaven On High’ though I’m not too big a fan of some of the vocals on that song
-
A Perfect Circle
BIGG fan of the vocals, I have no bad things to say about this album all the songs were good, the lyrics were beautiful on most if not all of the songs. my favorite was ‘Pet’ it was near perfect in my opinon, ′The Nurse Who Loved Me’ was really good aswell I think the lyrics on this one were my favorite out of every song though the song itself wasn’t heavy at all it was a nice switch up. overall it was beyond a great album and I’d listen to it again anytime
-
Silent Planet
its an okay album, not a lot of the songs stuck with me but most if not all were good. ‘Trilogy’ was definitely my favorite, most of the other songs had that sort of ai sound to the vocals that I’m not too big of a fan of, the lyrics were intresting, on some of the songs I felt like they didn’t really paint a solid picture though, I felt like they were all over the place at times which is alright I still thoroughly enjoyed the album
-
Bullet For My Valentine
I mention the guitarist a lot but I really like theirs in this album, the drummer is also notably good and I feel like they work extremely well together, loved the guitar solo in ‘Alone’ which also happens to be my favorite song on the album my runner up would have to be ‘Bittersweet Memories’ not a big fan of the pacing of their vocals on some of the songs if that makes sense, the lyrics aren’t terrible and the vocals are alright, honestly a good listen
-
Evergreen Terrace
cover art for this is beautiful and so are most of the songs, lead vocalists got a nice voice and I’m a big fan of their extreme vocals aswell I think they do them really well. the guitarist is pretty good, love their work in ‘Browbeaters Anonymous’ but I’d have to say ‘Post Satanic Ritual Baby’ is my favorite song from the whole album
-
Staind
liked most of the songs on this album, waste was my favorite 100% I loved the lyrics to it the most, LOVEE Aarons voice its a big part about why I love this album, the whole thing has some pretty great lyrics that’s also a big part on my opinions towards it. I feel like the guitars not too overbearing which I enjoy in most cases but its a good change of pace from some of the other things I’ve listened to, honestly a great album.
-
Kiss It Goodbye
didn’t really like this one can’t put my finger on why though, if I had to pick ‘what if’ is my favorite
-
Like Moths To Flames
loved all of the songs, not a single one was bad, my favorite has been ‘you won’t be missed’ but ‘No Hope’ is growing on me, its actually hard to pick a favorite for this one the entire album was nothing but good songs, I love the vocals and the switch between extreme vocals to clean ones is in almost every song which I love
-
Dream Theater
good album, I think I liked it more than Train Of Thought going based off vocals which were way better in this album, the songs are long as hell so it was kinda hard to focus while listening but it was good nonetheless. my favorite had to be ‘Constant Motion’ the vocals there kinda reminded me of avenged sevenfold
-
Korn
honestly loved this album, there wasnt a single song I didn’t like and its something I’d listen to again, hey daddy was definitely my favorite but they were all good, realeased on my birthday immediate 5+ points
-
Dream Theater
pretty okay album, sounds like they have a really good guitarist and the keyboard was unexpected for a first time listening to the band but I feel like it was needed. not too big a fan of the vocals, kinda set me off some of the songs but other things made up for it, my favorite had to be In ‘The Name Of God’ just based off the lyrics but endless sacrifice was good too, I liked the vocals on that one more than the other songs
