Formative Albums

The albums that made me the man I am

  1. Beastie Boys

The album that probably most closely matches what it sounds like inside my own head.

  2. Fun Lovin' Criminals

The very distillation of all that I thought was cool in the 1990s.

  3. Nightmares On Wax

Another album that always seemed to be on in the background at whichever mate's house you were hanging out at.

  4. Roots Manuva

The album that got me into UK hip hop. This album was a constant soundtrack to several years of my life.

  5. Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Pete Rock, C.L. Smooth

The first hip hop album I had on vinyl. Played it to death, especially "I Got a Love".

  6. A Tribe Called Quest

Probably the album that really got me into hip hop

  7. Elastica

    Unquestionably the best "Britpop" album.

  8. I was a bit young for the Happy Mondays, but I listened to this on my walk to school every day for weeks

  9. Leftfield, Leftfield Official

I once read a description of Leftfield as having "total mastery of their sound" and I couldn't really disagree
