🤯 Some Surprise Finds From 1/26/23
I’ve never found Apple Music’s algorithms/suggestions to be good, but all of the below albums showed up in a suggested section and each one was pretty great.
All of these are relatively recent releases from bands I have previously never heard of.
-
Beddy Rays
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Nothing mind blowing, but nails the early 2000’s indie pop punk vibe w/o the whiny vocals and that’s all I need to be happy.
-
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Coming in hot! Fast paced with some great guitar sounds and vocals.
-
Teenage Joans
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Stellar EP from a two-member group (I think). Reminds me of The Ataris, with the drums, guitars and the way they use crescendos with their vocals.
-
The Buoys
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Really great EP. They give me a bit of Paramore meets The Academy Is… vibes.
-
Lime Cordiale, Idris Elba, IDRIS
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Idris Elba as a guest vocalist on six tracks of an alternative indie rock EP?! And it’s good?!
-
Slowly Slowly
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Alt pop punk to the full extent. Feels like it could’ve come out in 2014.
-
Ruby Fields
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really nice stuff. Some singer-songwriter vibes with a unique voice and lofi aesthetic.
-
Sly Withers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Alternative rock from some Aussies. Good fun.
-
Spacey Jane
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
The tamest album of the group. Still some solid stuff here, but never felt like it really found it’s stride.
