IB - 2025 Favourites

Records I rinsed in 2025. Roughly in chronological listening order (lower on the list - later in the year).

  1. Boy Golden

The Winnipeg squad does NOT miss! Very rad to hear these songs recorded in this way. Boy Golden @ Club SAW in Ottawa towards the end of 2024 was one of the best shows I've been to in years.

  2. May Erlewine, 10 Good Songs

Tender stuff. Big love for records being made like this with the whole squad in the room and using the keeper live-take vocals.

  3. Jason Scott & The High Heat

    Funky western/alt-goth-disco country singer-songwriter. Yup!

  4. Doug Paisley

My good pal Liam S. Russell put me on to this one. Thanks Liam! I remember thinking the production sounded uncannily like some of the recent Bahamas records on a first listen. Turns out Afie produced it and pulled on performances from Christine Bougie (guitar) and Felicity Williams (vox). The more you know.

  5. Andy Gibb

He wasn't really a Bee Gee, but he was one of the Brothers Gibb. It's so funky.

  6. Jeff Tweedy

The Wilco guy made a really long record and I like it a lot.

  7. The Barr Brothers

How did these guys go under my radar for so long??? This record is very good. Brad Barr is posting Instagram reels of himself playing 'violin' by pulling on household thread tied to his guitar strings, and that's pretty rock 'n roll.

  8. Alexa Rose

A late addition that I came across in late November. Gorgeous and gentle singer/songwriter record.
