Seven Songs for the Week #125
-
Jean Durand
DSFM is a South Dublin community radio station where you could hear anything: a documentary on bees, Indian language programming, comedy, interviews or this song, which made me cock an ear in the car. I couldn’t place it at all. Where was it from geographically and in terms of time? There is not much out there about its performer, and listening closely to the start of the track you can hear that this sounds like a needle-drop, you can make out vinyl surface noise. It sounds great.

Patti Smith
A 50th anniversary of Horses by Patti Smith is due out soon and this previously unreleased track has been put out as a preview. Patti who normally plays venues like Vicar St (Cap 1,500) when show comes to Dublin, but a 5oth Anniversary Horses show has been announced for the 3Arena (Cap. 13,000). Good luck to her.

Laufey
I know little about Laufey, but she has a new album out this week.
-
Brendan Shine
On a quest to make this week’s list as varied as possible. The sound of sitting in the back seat as a kid.

The Temptations
The Midnight Special, a 1970s late night music show from the US, has been putting out full episodes of shows from the archive every week and it’s an excellent way to pass time. This week’s hosts were The Temptations, promoting this new song and celebrating an unfeasibly long 10 years in the business. The year was 1975 by the way.

Clipse, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, Pharrell Williams, …
Don’t know much about Clipse, tbh, but Kendrick appeared on stage with him this week to perform this track to much pandemonium. So now I’m listening to this.

Bo Diddley
Doesn’t this sound great? It sounds great.
