Seven Songs for the Week #127 - 10th Sept 25

  1. Pete Townshend

Listening to lesser familiar Who-related stuff. I'd never listened to this album before, probably because it has the worst title of all time. There is a fascinating 30 minute video album that was made to go with this which I found myself watching this week also. At one point, in a very 1980s kitchen, he makes a grim-looking bacon, eggs and tomato breakfast in a massive microwave. The contractual obligation that resulted in two Pete albums and two Who albums in just over 2 years from 80 to 82 makes you wonder what if all the powers had been focused in one direction. This tongue-twisting song with a bit more of band oomph and some Daltrey back & forth would have been a treat.

  2. The album is number one in Ireland and number two in the UK. She also had her network tv debut in the US on Jimmy Kimmel this week. The year of CMAT.

  3. Did you see the Withering Heights trailer? No?

  4. Curtis Harding

Suggested by Apple Music. Pleasant enough.

  5. Suggested by YouTube in a live performance version on WDR back in the day. Eerie, groovy.

  6. Richard & Linda Thompson

Sometimes this is the album you need hear. It is timeless.

  7. I'd forgotten that this live album was on the way, it's been delayed until the end of the month, I would love to see this live.
