Seven Songs for the Week #165 - 3rd June 26
-
Yunchan Lim, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
I'm not sure why I put this on, I was sitting in the Atmos zone and work was being done so it seemed like a nice Atmos stream. And it was. It's June!

Boards of Canada
Well, the BoC album is out and I had two focused listens and it's really great. I don't own any BoC records, but every now and then I'll give 'em a stream. I'm fully sold on this. Excellent record.

Robbie Robertson
I was aware of Robbie Robertson before The Band because of the 1988 hit Somewhere Down The Crazy River. It has taken me 38 years to get around to the album, which I picked up last year. It's very good. It's a North American counterpart to Peter Gabriel's So.

Charli xcx
More new Charli - her upcoming album is 30 minutes long. Cool.
-
Paul McCartney
The pressure of a new Paul McCartney album. I need to give it space and time, but this is my favourite for now.
-
Vampire Weekend
Played this album this week, and the closing track is Hope which is a circular song, but avoids being repetitive.

The Beach Boys
While the 60th Anniversary Editons of Pet Sounds are being released now to steal your money, but I found a 40th Anniversary edition for €10 this week. A CD with a mono and stereo version and a DVD of a 5.1 and HiRes Stereo versions, and about 50 mins of video content, and a booklet with reading in it, all in a green flock cover. Much better value. The 5.1 mix is excellent, the best way to listen to it. This is only my second copy of PS, following a CD purchase in 1990, when it was only 24 years old.
