Seven Songs for the Week #44

The Eagles are on a farewell tour in North America at the moment, even though they had a Farewell 1 tour a few years ago. Anyways, I hate the Eagles, or Eagles to give them their proper name. The real crime of their current tour is that the support is Steely Dan, who, let's face it, should be being supported by Eagles. I looked up the setlist for Steely Dan to see what they're playing for their allocated hour, and they open with this, which is a song I've never heard before. It's fun, you can hear the Dan chords.

Billy Joel's first single in 17 years or over 30 years depending on how you count these things. It sounds like him. I love Billy Joel. His decision to stop writing and making records in 1993 is really unique for someone who was still having big hits. There's no hint of a subsequent album, but now is the time. If not now, when?

Went to see Depeche Mode last Saturday. I had only seen them once before in 2006 when they were touring their Playing The Angel album. Now, I'm not a massive DM fan, very casual, and back at the 2006 gig my favourite song of the night was this one. Last weekend they dropped it in towards the end of their set, it wasn't a big hit, but it's a big song.

Turned on the radio the other day, this was on it. The radio show was being hosted by my cousin.

This song has over a billion streams, but it was only when watching the Grammies that I tied the song and SZA together.

I got a copy of Bob Dylan's 1983 album Infidels on CD for €1 - no cover or anything. Anyways, it sent me back to the Springtime In New York box set on streaming. Only the 2CD version is on streaming so looking for a cheap second hand 5CD version.

The Richard & Linda Thompson 8 CD boxset Hard Luck Stories from 2020, is a marvellous thing to dip into every now and then. All their albums and extras. Was listening to SunnyVista this week and this song stuck out.
