Seven Songs for the Week #98 - 19th February 25
-
Björk
I heard this somewhere this week, can't remember where though. Came out 32 years ago, that's hard to believe. I still haven't forgiven NME for the meh single review this track got when it came out, instead they gave the "Single of the Week" accolade to 4 Non Blondes' What's Up.

Ryley Walker
Went to see Ryley live last week in a small venue that was new to me, the Bello Bar. A 200 person basement. Haven't seen Ryley since the beforecovid time. In my mind he should be a huge star. I actually haven't listened to his stuff in a while so it was nice to get reacquainted with songs like this one.
-
Magazine
Ryley did a cover of this track at his show. "I'm gonna do a song by Magazine" crowd cheers "This is a deep cut, none of that Shot By Both Sides bs"
-
Manic Street Preachers
The opening and title track of the new MSP record. Sung by Nicky Wire, it's not immediately apparent that it's them, and it sounds like it could've been born in the same 1978 soup that Magazine were in.
-
Pavement
Watching Top Of The Pops this week from 1997 and I was amused to see this song in the charts at number 40.
-
Saw someone posting about Nektar on the Hoffman Music Forums, had a listen to Nektar and now I know a little bit about Nektar.
-
Talking Heads
Follows on very well from the cacophony at the end of the Nektar track. In my mind there's a parallel universe Talking Heads where the True Stories movie doesn't happen and instead Talking Heads pool all the Little Creatures/True Stories songs to release the world's greatest pop album in 1985 after a storming set at Live Aid and their 1986 tour is a massive success and they become Rock's Hottest Ticket.
