A Selection of New Arrivals #2 (Stratford Upon Avon)- March 2025
Recent purchases from Stratford Upon Avon. A mixture of charity shop and small record fair finds.

XTC
Not the Go 2 album, which I already had, but the Go+ 12 inch that came with a limited number of the first release. Quite a decent find and it means my copy is now complete.
-
Discharge
A 50p charity shop find. I had heard of Discharge, of course, and the cover jumped out amongst the many Val Doonicans, but it was in terrible condition. Well worth a gamble though for 50p!
As it turned out, after a thorough clean in the ultrasonic bath the vinyl sounded great.

Supertramp
I've always liked Supertramp, but they have never been on the top of my wants list. That's more a reflection of the size of my wants list than the quality of Supertramp though! This was just a couple of quid so one of those easy to make decisions. I don't know the album particularly well, but on first listen its got enough going for it that I want to listen more.
Not a great reception on release, it seems to have faired better with time, and from the reviews I have read it seems to be firmly a fans album rather than being concerned with anything as cumbersome as commercial success.

Harry Nilsson
I’m not entirely sure I’ll like this album having read about it and seeing the selection of tracks, but I have been down a slight Harry Nilsson rabbit hole lately, a fascinating character, so though it worth a gamble.
Haven’t played it yet but will report back when I do!

Spin Doctors
This is simply one of my favourite albums. I love it. It means so much to me on a lot of levels, but it's also just really good (especially Chris Barron's unique writing and vocal style). I have never previously owned it on vinyl so this purchase makes me very happy.

Jimi Hendrix
This was actually the Track Records sampler, Peppermint Allsorts, of which Purple Haze features (there are no streaming links for the album).
I have somehow managed to collect a lot of samplers over the years, there is something about them I really appreciate, so although this was ever so slightly overpriced I snapped it up. When you add in postage, or rather lack of it, it wasn’t too bad.
With a couple of tracks by The Who it will slip into my Who shelf, as I continue the never ending task of collecting all vinyl that features them.
-
Electric Flag
Another sampler, this time The Rock Machine - I Love You featuring tracks by CBS.
CBS released a few different ‘Rock Machine’ samplers and I already have the ‘Turns You On’ LP. I’ll get them all one day I guess.
The Electric Flag, Simon & Garfunkel and Big Brother & The Holding Company are highlights.
