Moving Magnets

vintage vinyl finds - old but new to me

  1. Bobby "Blue" Bland

blues + soul x heart = big fan... didn't have "Spider-Man needle drop" on my bingo card for the lead track.

  2. Nektar

One of the more baffling prog rock albums I've heard, but also bafflingly catchy.

  3. Judy Henske

Force-of-nature vocals, charming stage banter... reportedly the inspiration for the character of Annie Hall (both are from Chippewa Falls, Wis.)

  4. This recording was subsidized by the Linn (as in Linn Drum) company as a proof of concept for their new mastering tech. Consequently, it sounds incredible on vinyl. Their "Hats" album is even better - I have that on CD.

  5. Solid Air is my fave of his, but my intro to him was this marked-down RSD reissue of one of his later albums, with covers ranging from Randy Newman to Portishead.
