Albums I enjoyed that came out in 2023

  1. Chaotic Genre Shifting Not Taking Itself Seriously (in the best way) Indie Pop Music. Album of the year

  2. Young Fathers

I like to imagine someone asked Young Fathers what Genre they were and they answered "yes". Brilliant.

  3. Public Service Broadcasting, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Jules Buckley

A live instrumental concept album about the founding of the BBC made in conjunction with the BBC should be pretentious but instead it's beautiful.

  4. The Chemical Brothers, Halo Maud, For That Beautiful Feeling

Classic Chemical Brothers, in the best possible way. Superb closing tracks

  5. The Front Bottoms

Glorious inconsistent punk-rock Front Bottoms release and album and it's just pretty great! Normally it's either the best album of the year (In Sickness and In Flames, Talon of the Hawk) or I can't get into it at all (the rest of their albums).

  6. boygenius

It's everyone's album of the year for a reason. It's as good as anything the three of them has individually made (apart from maybe Baker's first album or Bridgers' I Know The End).

  7. Post Taylor Swift The National is great. The best album since High Violet?
