ZBiotics Albums of the Day

For the ZBioneer in your life!

  1. Marvin Gaye

03/21/25 Rob Album of the Day is by the GOAT Marvin Gaye. The album is What's Going On and is from 1971. Widely considered a masterpiece and Gaye's magnum opus, the album was recently at the top of Rolling Stone's Best 500 Albums of All-Time list. Rightfully so, in my opinion. If you haven't listened to it front to back ever, I highly recommend doing so. My dad says this is the only vinyl record he wore to the bone to the point of being unplayable. And did so twice.

  2. Daft Punk

03/20/25 Rob Album of the Day is by the one and only Daft Punk. The album is Homework and is from 1997. A bit less pop-oriented than later releases and very club-forward, this album is Daft Punk paying homage to their musical influences up until that time. A great album to vibe or work to!

  3. Duke Jordan Trio

03/17/25 Rob Album of the Day is by the Duke Jordan Trio. The album is Jor-Du and is from 1954. In need of some soothing piano-forward jazz from the golden age of that genre? This is for you.

  4. Khruangbin

03/14/25 Rob Album of the Day is by Khruangbin. The album is Con Todo El Mundo and is from 2018, the before COVID times. If you've never listened to Khruangbin, you're in for quite the relaxing treat. Just overall great chill vibes front to back.

  5. Explosions In The Sky

01/17/25 Rob Album of the Day is by Explosions In The Sky. The album is The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place and is from 2003, those halcyon days of the early aughts. I remember seeing Explosions In The Sky at Lollapalooza in 2011, which seems like a lifetime ago. Really got into them after watching the movie Friday Night Lights, which is just as good as the show if you haven't seen! Highly recommend said movie and of course this album.

  6. 12/09/24 Rob Album of the Day is by Junior Wells. The album is Junior Wells: Sings Live At the Golden Bear and is from way back in '68. I'm a blues man at heart, it's true.

  7. Santana

11/14/24 Rob Album of the Day is Santana's Caravanserai.

Here's a blurb on the album from Wikipedia: "Caravanserai is the fourth studio album by American rock band Santana, released on October 11, 1972. The album marked a period of transition for Santana as it was the band's last to feature several key early members, while shifting in a more instrumental, progressive jazz fusion direction. It sold in fewer quantities than the band's previous chart-topping albums, stalling at No. 8 on the Billboard LPs chart, but has been critically acclaimed."
