The Paper Kites
The Paper Kites have held a special place for me for a while. Taking a trip back in time to 2015, the sound of this record is reminiscent of many indie albums of the time. Processed drums, verby vocals and intricate guitar and synth parts create the sonic sound of the mid 2010s for me.
-
Brittany Howard
In conversations for album of the year, this masterpiece by the former front-woman for The Alabama Shakes is sonically massive, and will have any music enthusiast grooving right along. Co-produced by Howard and Shawn Everett and Drums by Nate Smith, the pedigree of musical excellence is palpable in this record.
-
Blake Mills
Mixed by the ever-celebrated Shawn Everett. The spacing and vocal placement in this album around sonically complex elements make it incredibly interesting and captivating.
-
Recommended to me by a friend, this album combines beautifully curated production with smooth vocal performance and tight grooves to create a wonderfully intricate album.
