Albums of the year 2025

  1. Jane Remover

probably not a surprise to anyone who knows me- this is generational shit

I've been a fan of Jane for a long time, and I loved Census Designated so much that to this day it's a top 5 album for me, but Revengeseekerz clears it and every other album made this year by a mile. The production is just fucking insane and I can guarantee you've never heard anything like it, which might be more of a threat than a promise depending on who you are.

The best way to describe this album is Big. It is a very Big album. It's a bit like someone blended 500 Nintendo DS's with Pokemon Pearl loaded into a sticky lump then set fire to the lump with a gallon of petrol. Yet despite that descriptor, the more you listen, the more you understand just how precise and considered everything is. It's a wall of sound but the layers are so expertly placed and mixed that what seems like pure chance initially becomes more like science, a kind of mathematic rage designed to melt you down in 50 minutes and still leave you wanting more. I don't think it's really deniable at this point that Jane Remover is one of the best "underground" artists out there, and if you don't agree then Revengeseekerz will twist your arm (and probably give you a concussion) until you change your mind.
