2023 Top Ten

What a great year for music! 2023 had a lot of great ones that didn't make the cut. Maybe I'll create a Runner Up list. :)

  1. Ratboys

Best of the 2023! Hands down! Chicago band represents!

  2. Jenny Lewis

Great album front to back. Jenny Lewis never disappoints!

  3. Out of New Zealand. Not sure where I first heard this, but it flows like a river and is super melodic. Love it.

  4. Austin TX natives. Saw them on KUTX 98.9 Live Session. OMG. Please watch it. Can't wait to see them live!

  5. Jamila Woods

Another Chicago staple. I love all 3 of her albums. This one is another classic soul album.

  6. Albert Hammond Jr

Oh, you like the Strokes? This album is the best Strokes album to come out in the last 10 years. Obviously he's the heart and soul of the band.

  7. Jeff Rosenstock

His last album didn't make my top 10, but this one has those classic Rosenstock hooks that I love!

  8. The Tubs

This came out of nowhere at the end of the year. Saw on someone else's top 10 list, gave it a listen, and loved it right away. Short and sweet (and jangly!)

  9. Superviolet

Came out of the same top 10 list as the Tubs. Listened to it and loved it. Equal parts Elliott Smith and Grandaddy.

  10. Blur, Blur Official

10 is always hardest to pick for me because there's a lot that can probably fit in this spot. I went with Blur's latest because every time I listen to it, I like it more and more. Melodic and mellow.

2023 Top Ten is an album list curated by vinylweekend:

Working on putting all my top ten lists up here (since 1995).

My stupid rules: Top ten can only be albums I've listened to during that year. I can't put an album on the list that I discovered two years later. Makes it tough! I love lists though, which makes this fun!
