Discoveries 2025

New golden nuggets or throwback classics... This is what I listened to and enjoyed in 2025.

  1. A real rock anthem, YUNGBLUD's Bohemian Rhapsody.

  2. YUNGBLUD

Grammy-nominated, so don't just go on my words.

  3. Jeangu Macrooy

Do you feel like you're on top of the world sometimes? After hearing this song, you'll sure do.

  4. Jeangu Macrooy

When every expectation of growing up turns out to be false.

  5. Buckingham Nicks, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham

    See "Long Distance Winner".

  6. Buckingham Nicks, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham

Discovered this re-issue this year. A great song, and a great album.

  7. Greyson Chance

An old song in a new jacket, as we say in Dutch. Still awesome.

  8. Greta Van Fleet

The very best from Greta van Fleet.

  9. Kensington

A little moment of reflection on Kensington's album, that explodes into it's epic conclusion one song later.

  10. Ben Forte

Don't let me go. Hopeful, that's for sure.

  11. Ben Forte

Followed this guy since a local pop show in a HiFi music store. Never dropped out since.

  12. Leonie Meijer

Almost-winner of The Voice of Holland turned... Well, just someone with an angelic voice and amazing songs.

  13. I once got warned by someone to not go to a Volbeat concert. Don't know why. I'm even more tempted to go now.

  14. Tamino

The Belgian singer that keeps on giving. His new album might be his best yet.

  15. Joshua Kadison

A one-hit wonder maybe, but that's OK. This rocks melodically.

  16. Greta Van Fleet

If Led Zeppeling would be alive today (yes I know, they are) they would be called Greta van Fleet.

  17. dorpsstraat 3

Dutch music at its finest. A concept album about a town and it's inhabitants, covered by clouds of steel factories, audible in all tracks of this masterpiece.

  18. The Who

The best rock opera ever might be Jesus Christ Superstar, but The Who's Tommy can be a good second.

  19. Joost

The most legendary Dutch entry for the Eurovision Song Contest ever. Pity he got cancelled for nothing. This song (translated "hot air balloon") is nothing less of magnificent. How about this for a comeback!

  20. Pa Sheehy

An evergreen already. Pa keeps on giving.

  21. The former lead-singer of Walking on Cars, back with another beautiful album. Just recently, of all cities he could choose for his tour, he chose mine. What a gift!

  22. Boyce Avenue

The raw diamond of cover artists with yet another jewel.

  23. Jacob Collier, Anoushka Shankar, Varijashree Venugopal

It's not often that I totally lost myself in an artist. On the other hand, with Jacob Collier it's not hard to lose yourself in one of his multi-hour-long sessions explaining his hundreds of tracks for a song in Logic.

Discoveries 2025 is an album list curated by Yordi Verkroost:

I do what I like and what gives me energy. I challenge myself. I help myself and others grow. Always with respect for everyone and always independent.

And I listen to music as well.
