Many fans consider Isolation Drills the last great classic GBV album, and it's easy to understand why. Pollard combines the melodic power of Do the Collapse with sharper songwriting and a more emotionally resonant tone. Songs like "Chasing Heather Crazy" and "Glad Girls" rank among the finest of his career. The album balances ambition and immediacy better than almost any other Pollard release. It's a remarkably complete statement from a songwriter often associated with fragmentation.
