Satomi Matsuzaki’s sweet vocals collide with fractured guitar lines and constantly shifting structures that somehow remain catchy and emotionally alive. Deerhoof’s experimental instincts feel joyful rather than academic. The record rewards close listening without ever losing spontaneity.
