❤️ Favorites of 2023
My six favorite albums from the first half of the year.
-
Jeff Rosenstock

Hope D
I was super excited for this after hearing a couple singles and it absolutely delivered and is probably the only album from early in the year that I’ve stuck with.
-
Bass Drum of Death
This one took me a few listens, it doesn’t scream “this is a sound you’ve never heard before,” which tends to be what I’m most attracted to, but this does a fantastic job of delivering that pure indie rock sound that my soul is made of.

Noname
-
ALEXSUCKS
A slightly poppier version of The Strokes and the more I listen, the more I dig it.
-
Black Honey
Just so damn good. I don’t really know what else to say. I’ve heard some Black Honey in the past but have never really stuck with them. This changed that.
-
SWMRS
-
Armand Hammer, billy woods, E L U C I D
-
Bully
Bully is new to me and I adore this record. Her voice is pitch perfect for the raspy indie rock that I love.
-
Killer Mike
-
Dominic Fike
This one is the biggest surprise for me, especially after learning this guy is from Euphoria. But it delivers so many fun and different sounds on this single record; from alternative to rap and mellow to indie pop, r&b. It may get a little too poppy on a few tracks for me, but ultimately it still kicks ass.

A. Savage

Black Pumas
-
Art Feynman
-
El Michels Affair, Black Thought
-
Colony House
