Joel’s Top 30

  1. The Who

    1. The last album the Who released before Keith Moon died. Like an omen of his early death Moon is sitting on a chair that says “Not To Be Taken Away.” No weak tracks. They sound more original than any other band on this album.
    1. The first Led Zeppelin album I ever bought and it is my favorite of that band. No weak tracks.
  2. The Who

    1. The quintessential rock opera. The Who’s best album in my opinion. Very inventive.
  3. The Band

    1. The Band has an ineffable together/not together sound that also sounds like it was recorded in the 1800s if rock music had existed back then.
  4. Jimi Hendrix

1967 recorded. My favorite Hendrix album is actually a shorter cut of his BBC sessions called Radio One but that album is out of print.
