Formative Years
The Zombies broke up in ’67 - then started to work on this (and released it ) in ’68 - go figure. If you read some of the stuff I write about around music I like, you will notice that I use a term ‘English Progressive’ - which emerges from an observation that the progressive artists in the UK have a foundation of folk and psychedelia in addition to the obvious world of rock. Think early Genesis, Syd Barratt and Jethro Tull and you’ll get me drift.
Andrew Hickey neatly summarises the clear difference
This last album from Rod and Colin - where they retained creative control - not the suits - delivered shades of Rod's shortly to emerge band 'Argent' and Colins long time collaboration with Alan Parsons.

Big Albums From Artists You Might Not Know
The Zombies were unto themselves. Colin Blunstone went on to great things - as did Rod Argent. This appeared at the end the Zombies run - but under THEIR creative control. Back in the mid to late 60s there was a sound that began to emerge combining Psychedelia, English Folk and Rock which in turn morphed into something I call 'English Progressive'. This is not obviously a Prog record - but it has most of the characteristics of that genre. (I hate genres.)

A Break From My Playlists
I was drawn to this after checking out a podcast about a fake band pretending to be The Zombies. Didn’t know much about The Zombies, but, wow, what an album!

Cisco Golden Circles
The kings of that special moment right between the sixties and seventies. Care of Cell 44 is genius.
