ℛ𝓊𝒷𝒷𝒾𝓈𝒽 ℬ𝒶𝒸𝓉ℯ𝓇𝒾𝒶An Album I listened to when I was 14 years old, had a great vibe then, has a great vibe now!
Catchy tracks, Catchy lyrics, Catchy Bass lines!
Very much so an acquired taste, however if you’re an open minded listener you’ll certainly catch yourself enjoying the music. The overall vibe of this album is loud, teenage loser, which is probably why it resonated with me back when I was 14…but in all seriousness, the tracks give off Folk Punk, especially with the heavy inclusion of the acoustic bass. Which is a key part of almost all of violent Femmes music, however the under appreciated instrument is a highlight of the entire album! The tracks may sound “messy” but truly are a good energetic listen!

JamesRaw nerves set to furious acoustic strumming. It’s awkward, funny, horny, and painfully honest all at once. The songs feel like confessions shouted from a bedroom. Messy in a way that makes it timeless. "Blister In The Sun" is one of the 80s most essential songs; if only the whole world had heard the others...

Neil HopkinsIf you’d asked me to guess the year and genre of this album from the title, then acoustic folk punk from 1983 is probably the last thing I’d have gone for. This turns out to actually be a lot of fun, written by an 18 year old high school student called Gordon Gano, mixing punky Lou Reed style vocals with bouncy acoustic guitars and lively drums. The highlight is the first track Blister in the Sun which I recognised from the Xbox Rock Band soundtrack.
