MohammadPhoebe Bridgers’ Lost Weekend is a stunning, emotionally bruising journey. Expanding on her signature indie sound with bold new sonic textures, it captures the dizzying haze of heartbreak and self-destruction. Her haunting lyricism cuts straight to the bone, wrapped in lush, melancholic arrangements. It’s devastatingly intimate, beautifully atmospheric, and easily some of her most affecting work to date.

I’ve listened to this in its entirety now several times, and while it’s definitely a good album, I can’t help but think that Lizzy McAlpine simply did it better in 2024 on Older.
None of the songs on Lost Weekend have hit me as hard as the songs on Older did, and these two artists have a very similar sound. I guess I just prefer Lizzy’s take on the genre.
