One of the more adventurous entries in the band's late-career catalog, Crawlspace of the Pantheon finds Pollard continuing to trust instinct over convention. The album jumps between styles, moods, and structures with the confidence of a songwriter who no longer feels constrained by expectations. The current lineup sounds completely comfortable navigating these abrupt shifts. As always, some songs hit harder than others, but the density of ideas remains impressive. More than anything, it's another reminder that Guided by Voices remains one of rock's most endlessly fascinating ongoing projects.
