2026 Log
Log of albums I have listen through in 2026 (starting in September lol)
-
Smidley
This was a surprise. I didn’t know the lead singer of Foxing had a solo project. It’s like a much raw, indie, basement recorded version of foxing. The last foxing album was a bit too heavy for me, so this was a nice return to indie.
-
Son Lux
Classic Son Lux. Really cool production. Almost overly sincere lyrics. Probably won’t come back to this often but it felt like catching up with an old friend.
-
Lizzy McAlpine
Wow. Wow. Wow.
Stunning vocals, stunning production, stunning arrangements.
It has a Broadway/musical quality to it that draws you in. Will come back often
-
Denzel Curry, Kenny Beats
So many punchlines over sp404 beats! It’s a bit over stimulating but really clever and good
-
This Is Lorelei
I liked the singles, but this one came and went. Have no interest in listening back. It was nice background music for my coloring book time.
-
Slow Pulp
It’s like a band and songs I would love but hidden behind foggy glass. Which is enticing but also forgettable. I could listen to it forever and not quite see this album clearly. Could be exciting or depressing depending how you look at it.
-
Luca Firth
Beautiful bed of indie bedroom chamber pop. But the lyrics are sooo brutally uninteresting. It made me ready to move on to the next album.
Also finding out his father is Collin Firth made it feel less DIY. Unfortunately the nepo baby aspect poisoned the well a bit
-
Joshua Burnside
A deep deep sadness sung with what I assume is traditional Irish folk influence. Beautiful unexpected vocal runs paired with simple, observant and vivid lyrics.
Album was made after the loss of his best friend.
-
Tiny Habits
Fun production, fun harmonies (what they are famous for) and introspective thoughtful songwriting.
On the more easy listening side but still has substance
-
Chanel Beads
It’s like an indie kid making DIY music at midnight in a cathedral with gargoyles and drum machines.
Very haunting and fun to sink into the world they create
-
hey, nothing
Manchester Orchestra is a big influence for them and you can tell. Great emo folk with anthemic choruses.
-
Medium Build
Love medium build. And this is a welcome evolution from sad guy with guitar to sad guy with band. The production is so clean. The drums are tight and the songs are heart wrenching and catchy
-
Phoebe Bridgers
Really cool textures and production over classic Phoebe tunes
