System Of A Down
AN UNSKIPPABLE ALBUM. There is not a single skippable song on this album. I have become obsessed with System Of A Down this year. Their music is both fun and dramatic. I love grooviness and melodic elements in music, and this album balances them both perfectly. My favourite song on this album varies depending on my mood, but currently my favourite song on it is Old School Hollywood. I also love Sad Statue, BYOB, Question, and Revenga. Question hits close to home because the melodic elements behind it. The melodic guitar and the percussive elements that sound like palmas (clapping) reminds me so much of flamenco/Spanish music, which is amazing because I am a Spanish flamenco dancer myself. I could listen to this album every single day and never get bored of it. I love it so, so much. This is definietly my favourite album that I've listened to this year so far.

Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar has become one of my favourite artists this year. I love his introspective lyrics, as I am a deeply introspective person myself. This is my favourite album of his. Currently, my favourite song on this album is Crown. The song talks about being the person that is always there for everyone, even if they're silently hurting themselves. That is something that I deeply resonate with, and it feels nice to have a song that understands me that deeply. I feel like this album was written about me. I'm currently in the healing/growth era and I'm learning to forgive myself and love myself again, which is something that I really struggled with last year. This album talks about those themes and more. It's Kendrick's healing journey as an album. Count Me Out is another example of tha. It was the first Kendrick song that I listened to that made me realise that his songs aren't just hype, and that they actually mean something. The album's message of "I choose me I'm sorry" is exactly what I'm trying to do now after all the hurdles I've been through, so this album resonates with me on a deeply personal level. I also love the experimental production in this album, and all the percussive tap elements. I do flamenco and tap dancing, so percussive elements feel so alive to me when I listen to music.

Linkin Park
This is literally my comfort album. The production is incredible. Linkin Park is the band that made me appreciate music as an art form. They combine melodic elements, rock elements, rhythmic rapping, deep and relateable lyrics, and insane production and instrumentation to create amazing music. My favourite song on this album varies.

My Chemical Romance
This album really resonates with me on a personal level. My favourite song on this album is Early Sunsets Over Monroeville. This song makes me emotional every single time I listen to it. It may be the most depressing song on the album, but I love it so much. I also love Our Lady Of Sorrows. This album has a lot of Catholic imagery, which really resonates with me because I am Catholic myself, and this year I've been really trying to reconnect with my faith and build my trust in God. So this album is perfect for the stage of my life I'm in right now. I've always loved Romance, the album's instrumental intro. This is a cover of the song Spanish Romance, which feels perfect because I'm Spanish myself, so it's really nice seeing my culture represented in this album. The song Cubicles hits me on a personal level because it's about unrequited love. I'm currently healing from a broken heart after experiencing unrequited love, and I feel like I don't hear many songs often that talk about that. It's great being able to listen to a song about that. Coincidentally, the person who introduced me to My Chemical Romance was the person who I had those unrequited feelings for, so it's bittersweet. The song Demolition Lovers stuck with me so much that I accidentally recreated a composition I was making for my Music class that sounded really similar to that song. This was the first time I used a song as my inspiration for my Music class. This album's sound reminds me of the season of Autumn. I love the Autumn aesthetic which makes listening to this album feel like an entire experience rather than a series of songs.
