30 years of life. Ten albums.

  1. Aja
    Steely Dan

genuinely might be the greatest most perfect album ever recorded by anyone

  2. Weezer

the blueprint and destruction manual of my mentally ill teenaged mind

  3. Nine Inch Nails

the blueprint and destruction manual of my mentally ill adult mind

  4. John Coltrane

central park west is the most beautiful piece of music ever recorded and you can’t convince me otherwise. this album got me through a very hard time in my life.

  5. the louder the better. mascis is my favorite guitarist and this is him at the peak of his powers.

  6. Herbie Hancock

all five tracks on this are brilliant, but the first tune is everything I love about jazz encapsulated into a few minutes. Herbie is on the mount rushmore for me.

  7. Ornette Coleman

has in spades the quality I’m looking for the most in music these days: fearlessness.

  8. Wilco

either way might be my favorite song of all time. this record remains imminently listenable and is always a mainstay in my rotation. impossible germany, unlikely japan (whatever that means).

  9. perfectly shambolic, tiring yet tender, three guys throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. amazingly, all of it.

  10. Bill Evans Trio

the best live album ever made. evans, lafaro and motian’s conversational style was often imitated and never replicated. probably the GOAT trio.
