Men aldrig ligegyldigt.

Afslappet.

What a weird thing. The sound, the lyrics, the time, the people. It’s such a weird album. Weird doesn’t mean bad. And in fact the sound itself is quite well known and normal, it’s only weird to me because it isn’t unique yet sounds so individualised. Steely Dan is classic as I’ve come to understand. It’s before my time. And I think because of that I don’t fully understand the themes of the time. Regardless of that i have always been one for weird music, interesting sounds and… Chinese inspired jazz rock. It’s odd at best, enjoyable at it’s worst. A good listen and background track for studying/gaming.

There comes a time in every middle-aged, music loving, dad's life where he has to admit, even if begrudgingly, that Steely Dan made some pretty great music. Their new affection might stop at one or two tracks but, if they are like me, they will find this entire album to be a tight seven-track masterpiece. Each track is pop enough to keep them accessible but jazz enough to reward deeper listenings.
