albums that informed my personhood whether i like it or not

  1. The Killers

hearts. This was my album on train ride from Madrid to Barcelona. All I listened to. Also, I loved and listened to before, but was more pick and choose with the songs.

  2. Weezer

Hot take but I loved this album when it first came out.

  3. Weezer

Perfect Situation had to be my most listened to song in like 2006 or 2007.

  4. Weezer

Another album that we listened through at my neighbors house. We loved so much. Powerful. This Weezer album probably has strongest emotional ties for me out of all their stuff.

  5. Weezer

Tho young, I remember when we first listened to this album after it dropped.

  6. Weezer

Weezer goes with Greenday but also stays with my Muse and The Killers era. Weezer is ubiquitous 2 me:')

  7. Saw Muse in concert when they toured for this album. Life changing. It was a poetic, spiritual moment for me when they literally transitioned into Knights of Cydonia by playing the harmonica song from Once Upon a Time in the West. Jaw dropping.

  8. My Dad became obssessed with Muse when they dropped this album.

  9. Muse

  10. I vividly remember the first time I heard Muse. We were driving somewhere and Gabe goes "you'll love this album I found. The same artist who does Knights of Cydonia in Guitar Hero 3." plays Starlight I was transported. Obsessed with it. Becomes pivotal album. Gah.

  11. Transported. We were obsessed with this show and the music. My mom playing the intro song on the piano is a powerful core memory. I loved it so much.

  12. Antonio Vivaldi, Itzhak Perlman, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

This isn't the exact recording, but Vivaldi's Four Seasons hits hard. Very formative. In particular George Winston's piano variation which I can't seem ro locate on Spotify unfortunately.

  13. Frederick Loewe, Lerner & Loewe, Alan Jay Lerner, Rex Harrison, …

1 of 2 cassette tapes I vividly remember pulling off my parents' shelf.

  14. Simon & Garfunkel

From my parents cassette tape collection I remember 2 that I would always go to: this one and My Fair Lady. lol. Simon and Garfunkel join the ranks of the Beatles and Tom Petty for early childhood staples.

  15. Green Day

We went to my Dad's friend's house. We were talking music and after I said I liked Greenday, the wife left the room and came back in with this CD and gave it to me. I was thrilled.

  16. Green Day

I already liked Greenday by this point. But when this album came out... yeah it was the first album I ever remember being excited about dropping. Mainly I was following suit of my cool, older neighbor friend Mollie. We would go hang out at the AH library and she would write out the lyrics in her journal and I was inspired.

  17. similar to previous album. the Beatles forever.

  18. The Beatles

The Beatles and Tom Petty most defining artists of my early childhood years. This album art particularly stands out to me. My neighbor friends across the street were very formative in my music taste. They had this album art as a poster in their room and I remember at sleepovers just staring at it thinking it was so cool. Also, I already loved the Beatles.

  19. Tom Petty, TomPettyMusic

every song by heart. this was a go to in my fam for as long as i can remember.
